About Arthea

Most retirement calculators hand you one clean line climbing to age 95, and a single number at the end. Arthea does the opposite. It models your plan across thousands of possible futures — the good, the median, and the genuinely ugly — and shows you the range of what could happen, including the outcomes you would rather not think about. It does this by what is called “Monte Carlo Analysis”. It’s grounded in statistics and likely what your financial advisor’s premium tool also uses.

It is built for Canadian households who want to pressure-test their own plan or plans provided by their financial advisor.

Who builds it

Arthea is created and maintained by Charan A.

He holds degrees in finance and strategy, and his international career includes working as an investment banker. More importantly, he’s just an average Canadian, a DIYer, managing his own planning journey.

He’s authored “Capital Controls on Foreign Portfolio Flows: How They Affect Spot Foreign Exchange Rates and Stock Market Performance” (2000), and served as a research assistant on Corporate International Diversification: Evidence from Canada.

Alongside that, he brings over 18 years of IT delivery and process improvement experience.

That combination is the point.

How it was built — and what it does not use

Arthea is also proof that a production-ready application can be built end to end with AI-assisted coding by anyone with a good domain knowledge. Every stage of the process — requirements, design, implementation, security testing, deployment — was completed with AI assistance.

Arthea itself uses no AI. Your forecast is a Monte Carlo simulation running against a Canadian tax engine: explicit, inspectable arithmetic. Nothing about your plan is decided by a language model, and nothing you enter is sent to one.

What Arthea is not

It is not financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional. Arthea is not registered with any securities regulator, and it does not sell financial products. It never touches your money, and it cannot move it.

What it gives you is your own analysis — including the unflattering cases — so you walk into the next conversation with your advisor, or with your spouse at the kitchen table, holding more than the version you were handed.

Arthea is an educational and analytical tool for Canadian households. It does not provide personalized financial, tax, or investment advice. Projections model uncertainty; they do not predict outcomes. Consult a licensed professional for advice specific to your situation.
